Facial Cosmetic Surgery

Many patients who come in looking for improvements in the appearance of their face comment on how they “look tired all the time.”

This appearance is due to a combination of changes that happen with aging that affect the surface of the skin, the elasticity of the skin, and the underlying muscles and fat. Addressing components in each area of the face is important to an overall natural, harmonious look. This may include skin care regimens, laser treatments, injectable treatments, and or surgical procedures.

Dr. Brown will examine you and develop a customized plan to address each of your concerns with the goal of giving you a natural, more youthful, and rested appearance.

Face and Neck Lift

Some of the most prominent changes in the face and neck as we age are the formation of jowls that hang over and obscure the clean appearance of the jaw line and the hanging skin and extra fat in the neck. A face lift is the best way to correct these issues. By tightening the underlying muscle layers of the face and neck, and tightening and redraping the skin, a face lift helps restore the clean neck and jaw lines and gives a more youthful appearance.

Not only does the aging process cause the skin and muscle layers of the face to loosen and wrinkle, it also causes loss of the normal fat content of the face. A youthful face is a full face. As an important addition to most patients’ facelift procedure, Dr. Brown also recommends fat grafting to restore some of this lost fullness. In this minimally invasive procedure that can be done at the same time as your face lift, liposuction is performed in areas of unwanted fat such as the flanks or abdomen, and the fat is injected into the face to help restore the fat that has been lost with the aging process.

If you are unhappy with the appearance of your face as you have aged and want to look refreshed and younger again, come see Dr. Brown today.

One of the central components to the “tired” appearance that so many people complain about as they age, is the area around the eyes. As the skin of the eyelids becomes loose and redundant, it wrinkles and hangs.

The underlying muscle can loosen and the shape of the eye and eyelids can change giving a less youthful appearance. Blepharoplasty is a procedure to remove excess eyelid skin and tighten the eyelid muscles and support to help restore the more youthful shape and appearance. Some patients may only need this done on the upper eyelids, and some require surgery on both upper and lower eyelids.

These procedures do require incisions, but the scars are hidden in natural creases and eyelid scars heal better than any other area of the body, which yields almost imperceptible scars after a few weeks. Patients are amazed at how revitalized and rested they look after their blepharoplasty.

Brow Lift

The eyebrows are an important aesthetic feature of the upper face. They help to frame the eyes and give shape and definition to the area. As we age, gravity and the repeated muscle contractions of the face over time pull the eyebrows down.

As this happens, the brow tissue starts to encroach on the upper eyelid and orbit which creates an appearance which patients refer to as looking sad, tired, or angry. Many people do not even realize that their brow is part of the problem. Most patients come in desiring upper eyelid surgery, when in fact a large component of the appearance they do not like is due to hooding of the brow over the upper eyelid. Because of this, most patients require both an upper blepharoplasty and a brow lift at the same time to give a harmonious and refreshed appearance.

The incisions used for brow lifts can vary depending on each patient’s situation but they are usually hidden in the hairline or within the hair. If you are unhappy with your brow shape or that tired look, come see Dr. Brown, and let him work with you to restore a more youthful, refreshed look.

The nose is located at the center of the face and is one of the most important components of our facial appearance. Rhinoplasty is a surgery designed to improve the appearance and/or function of the nose.

There is a large spectrum of reasons people may seek out a rhinoplasty. Some of the most common include: a hump on the bridge of the nose, a nose that is too wide for his or her face, a tip that is too big or hangs too much, a crooked nose due to prior trauma, or problems with breathing through the nose. Whatever concerns you have, Dr. Brown will work with you to address each component in developing an individualized surgical plan.

Dr. Brown’s expertise and experience in nasal reconstruction also gives him an added knowledge of nasal anatomy, function, and aesthetics essential for good results in cosmetic rhinoplasty.
